Project Description
Hand in Hand Eastern Africa and Care Rwanda have officially launched HiH & CARE Job creation project, and introduced it to Rwanda’s key stakeholders hence seek guidance to establish an effective cooperation and collaboration between Care and stakeholders involved in savings groups and women’s market oriented entrepreneurship programs.
CARE Rwanda has partnered with Hand in Hand Eastern Africa to learn and adapt its experience and successful models in entrepreneurship and market-oriented business development with the main goal of promoting sustainable improvements in livelihood resilience and diversity, small business start-up and employment opportunities for 100,000 poor and very poor people at least 75% of whom being women organized in Village Saving and loan (VSL) groups in the Eastern Province of Rwanda.
The project will be implemented across seven districts of the Eastern Province of Rwanda; NYAGATARE, KIREHE, GATSIBO, KAYONZA, BUGESERA, NGOMA and RWAMAGANA.
Based on lessons learned to date in Rwanda and elsewhere, the partnership will blend the best of both organizations’ methodologies. We will draw on CARE’s experience and networks to help members mobilize savings and access loans and Hand in Hand Eastern Africa’s training expertise to mentor members to run a gainful business and create 80,000 sustainable jobs.
